Exhibition of paintings by Krzysztof Kozera

February 19, 2020 – March 15, 2020

“I would like my work to leave room for the imagination and for each viewer to interpret it in their own way. I’m delighted that so many people have responded positively to these paintings. I don’t want to classify what I do, but the closest description would be a kind of painted poetry, born in the mind and brought to life with paints, ink and pencil.” Krzysztof Kozera is a painter of the imagination. He graduated from the Warsaw Secondary School of Fine Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts, earning a diploma in poster design under Professor Maciej Urbaniec and in painting under Professor Jerzy Tchórzewski in 1987. Since 1985, he has worked with numerous companies and publishing houses in the field of graphic design, creating posters, illustrations, book covers and more. In 1991, he held his first solo exhibition at a gallery at 6 Krucza Street in Warsaw. In 1993, a travelling exhibition accompanied many of Dariusz Wasilewski’s renowned concerts, featuring poems by Rafał Wojaczek, in Warsaw and the surrounding area. The project culminated in a concert recorded by Polish Television (TVP), for which Kozera created the stage design. Since 2009, he has taken part in solo and group exhibitions, often alongside Małgorzata Duda-Kozera, who creates theatrical performances. In October 2009, he and his wife, Małgorzata Duda-Kozera, embarked on a major artistic undertaking: Concert of Paintings. To mark the twentieth anniversary of his wife’s jubilee concert at Rampa Theatre in Warsaw, he exhibited his paintings. “Tuwim Dancing” is, in a way, a continuation of that event. At each of Małgorzata’s performances and original productions, Krzysztof Kozera’s paintings serve as part of the stage design. In 2018, he and Małgorzata founded the Off Theatre and Cyna Gallery at 53 Radzymińska Street, where his work is shown in a changing exhibition that serves the performances and adorns the gallery. His works are held in private collections.
