K&K Art Gallery in Warsaw’s northern Praga district is once again delighted to invite art lovers into the mysterious world seen through the eyes of an artist. This time, however, the central theme shaping the event is not the artist as an individualist, but families of artists spanning generations. On 11 November 2020, the opening will launch a series of exhibitions devoted to this theme, beginning with an exhibition of the Rząsa family of Zakopane. Antoni Rząsa was an outstanding sculptor whose work was inspired by religious themes and folk culture; his distinctive pieces are known around the world. Halina, the artist’s wife, was an extraordinary photographer. Among other things, she created the poetic images documenting her husband’s work. The gallery will also be filled with sculptures by Marcin Rząsa (Halina and Antoni’s son), known as “sculptural haiku”: small, intriguing wooden figures. Visitors will also be able to admire photographs by Magda Ciszewska-Rząsa, in which reality is transformed through the camera lens and presented in panoramas. Visitors will thus have the chance to witness an intergenerational dialogue, full of tensions and interdependencies. The exhibition will run until 5 December 2020.
