WITH SCULPTURE IN GARDENS - multi-year project

Outdoor exhibitions have long served as a unique form of contact between the audience and art. Unlike traditional museum or gallery displays, art presented in open air transcends enclosed spaces and enters into direct dialogue with nature and the everyday life of humans. The series of exhibitions under the common title "With Sculpture in Gardens" perfectly fits this idea, combining artistic reflection with garden landscapes, thus creating a unique aesthetic experience. The project has been realized since 2012, when we showcased the Act by Zofia Kubicka in an urban space on Okólnik.

Sculpture, as a field of art, is particularly predisposed to presentation in open spaces. Its three-dimensionality, materiality, and the possibility of interacting with it from various perspectives make it gain new meanings in a natural environment. The outdoor exhibitions "With Sculpture in Gardens" utilize this property by placing artworks among greenery, trees, flowers, or elements of garden architecture. As a result, sculptures are not merely exhibits – they become part of the landscape, co-creating its character.

An essential aspect of this type of exhibition is the relationship between the artwork and nature. Sculptures can contrast with their surroundings – through form, color, or material – or, conversely, blend harmoniously with it. Metal, stone, wood, or contemporary materials enter into dialogue with the living matter of plants, changing with the seasons, light, or weather conditions. This ensures that the experience of the exhibition is never the same – each visit becomes a new experience.

"With Sculpture in Gardens" is also an initiative with a social dimension. Outdoor exhibitions are inherently more accessible than traditional galleries – they often take place in parks, botanical gardens, or public spaces, which encourages spontaneous contact with art. Anyone can become an audience member: a passerby, a tourist, or a family with children. This democratization of art contributes to its popularization and the building of aesthetic sensitivity among a wide range of audiences.

The series of exhibitions "With Sculpture in Gardens" is a harmonious blend of art and nature, enriching both the space and the audience experience. Such initiatives demonstrate that art need not be confined to institutions – it can operate in the open world, inspire, provoke thought, and accompany people in their daily lives. In this way, sculpture becomes not only a form of artistic expression but also an integral part of the reality surrounding us.
