Summer evenings at the K&K ART Gallery are filled with the sounds of all kinds of melodies, sometimes emerging from instruments, and other times from human voices. On August 27, 2020, there will be a wonderful opportunity to listen to the archaic singing of the WYRAJ ensemble. The ensemble consists of Andrzej Gołoś, Iwona Goździkowska, Ewa Karasińska, Ewa Mysza Starzyk, and Wójciak. Using archaic vocal techniques, WYRAJ performs traditional Ukrainian, Belarusian, and Russian songs. What sets the ensemble apart is its distinctive approach to the songs: it pays special attention not only to their moving melodies, but also to the stories told through them. Its repertoire includes lyrical and ritual songs, psalms, carols, and kanty. The ensemble has been performing since December 2016. The concert “What’s Woven in Summer” is a special one: in the East Slavic summer songs you will hear in our gallery, joy alternates with sorrow, fulfilled love with heartbreak, times of hard work with moments of respite, and life with death. It will be lyrical, epic, and dramatic.
