BARTEK LESZCZYNA

He is a graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He defended his diploma in the studio of Prof. Leon Tarasewicz in 1999 with a very good result with distinction, and defended the annex to the diploma in the Studio of Technology and Techniques of Wall Painting under Prof. Edward Tarkowski. The traditional figurative painting I do is inspired by my immediate environment, with which I have a natural emotional bond. I am a lover of mountains, but I am particularly close to the Tatra Mountains, which I have often visited since childhood. Tatra themes constitute a separate, parallel current of my painting to cityscapes. I do not try to create in isolation from nature, which, by the way, even for abstraction always seems to be the starting point, although often unconscious. Realism is fundamentally the closest form of expression to me, although I process the depicted reality, organize it in my own way, often reducing or adding particular elements of the composition.

The biggest challenge in painting for me are formal decisions, because they ultimately determine the final impact of the painting. The subject itself is basically just a pretext for playing with form, but the initial motif must always make a strong impression on me.
